If you have an outdoor fireplace, you don’t have to stop using it during the summer months. An outdoor fireplace is an excellent place to make delicious S’mores in on a summer evening as well. When you think of S’mores, you probably think of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers; however, there are actually several different ways to make them. Here are a few fun ideas you might want to try yourself:
- Spread a bit of peanut butter on your graham crackers before adding chocolate and marshmallows
- Drizzle some caramel ice cream topping over your marshmallows before placing it in the fire
- Use mint chocolate chips, butterscotch morsels or any other type of baking chip you like instead of bars of chocolate
- Add a slice of banana or strawberry
- Place a strawberry on a skewer, and then stuff inside a large marshmallow. Melt over the fire, and then drizzle with chocolate syrup when done. Roll in crushed graham cracker crumbs and serve
- Crush peppermint candies and sprinkle them on top of your chocolate before melting
- Add miniature marshmallows, bite-sized chocolate and graham cracker crumbs to a drumstick-style ice cream cone before melting to make it easier to eat
- Use chocolate or strawberry flavored marshmallows instead of plain ones
- Cut a Butterfinger or Snickers candy bar into very tiny pieces and use in place of plain chocolate
- Use sandwich cookies with the filling removed to make the base of the S’more
- Spread your graham cracker with marshmallow cream, and cover with colorful sprinkles
- Place a Reese’s peanut butter cup between the two pieces of graham cracker and place a marshmallow on top
